Team MBS girls shine at the WFF and INBA All Female contests

Team MBS athletes Kara Martini and Amanda Kobilanski stood out at the 2007 NABBA/WFF Miss International All Female titles, held on 7 July in Camberwell. Kara won the WFF Sports Model category, adding to her successes earlier in the year. Amanda beat several other girls in top form to win the WFF Overall Figure title, while Sharon McDonald won the WFF Women’s Masters class. The contest was small, but all competitors were in great condition and it provided good experience for first-time competitors.
On the following weekend, the Team MBS athletes were back in Camberwell to compete in the INBA All Female Muscle & Fitness Classic. This was a tougher contest and Team MBS won four second places and one third. Athena Raftopoulos put on a stunning routine, complete with live drumming, and won the “best routine” trophy in the Figure Open Tall class. Athena won second place in her class and Skippy Tunui won third. Jessica D’Amicis came second in Figure Intermediate Tall, Amanda Kobilanski took second in Figure Open Short, and Sharon McDonald placed second in Figure Masters (40-49).
Team MBS’s performance at the 2007 NABBA/WFF Southern Hemisphere Championships

After experiencing their first taste of competition for 2007, 12 members of Team MBS decided to aim higher. Along with Director of Coaching Michael Tabban and MBS support staff, they departed for Queensland, looking forward not only to the national-level competition but also to enjoying some warm, sunny beach weather!
The 2007 NABBA/WFF Southern Hemisphere Championships, held on 27 May in Southport on the Gold Coast, was a challenging comp. The line-ups, particularly in the WFF women’s classes, were big and many of the competitors were in excellent condition. All Team MBS athletes looked fantastic and put on great performances.
In WFF Open Athletic Class 2, Lisa Saygun won again, looking just as enthusiastic and bubbly as always. Jane Negri, who had come expecting just to have fun, was shocked and delighted to take out 3rd place. In WFF Open Athletic Class 1, Kati O’Nagy won 2nd place and Vicky Georgaklis won 3rd. Lisa Saygun put on a valiant effort in the battle for the WFF Overall women’s title, but she couldn’t quite match the ripped legs of the winner of WFF Open Athletic Class 1.
Looking very elegant in her long black dress, Kara Martini won 3rd place in WFF Sports Model. Katie Farrell & Stuart Roe placed 2nd in NABBA Mixed Pairs and Stuart Roe placed 3rd in NABBA Masters.
Many of the Team MBS athletes commented that they enjoyed the challenge and the experience of competing against athletes from around Australia.
